Vlahos holds a BSc (Hons) in Mineral Technology (1996) and an MBA (2004) from the University of Otago, New Zealand. She is a member of the Institute of Directors (NZ), and a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Outside Vlahos Geosciences Inc, Vlahos is the CEO of Straterra Inc., a member-based organisation established to provide high level representation and advocacy for the resource sector in New Zealand. Vlahos is also the Chairman of MinEx — the New Zealand Mineral Industry Health and Safety Council.

Her experience spans 10+ years in mining and energy in Australia and New Zealand, in executive and governance roles and across many commodities.
